DBMS User

A database management system (DBMS) user refers to an individual or an entity that interacts with the DBMS to access, manipulate, and manage data stored in a database.

There are several types of DBMS users:

End-users: They are individuals who interact directly with the database, such as customers of a retail store.

Application programmers: They write programs that interact with the database and create applications that end-users interact with.

Database administrators (DBAs): They are responsible for the overall management of the database, such as performance optimization, security, and backup and recovery.

System administrators: They are responsible for the hardware and software that the database runs on.

In this diagram, the arrows represent the flow of interactions between the different types of DBMS users. End-users interact directly with the database through applications created by application programmers. The DBAs manage the database and work with system administrators to ensure the proper functioning of the DBMS and its underlying hardware and software.
